Waldo Tejada is a photographer and artist graduated from the prestigious Cooper Union School of Art in New York, where he taught for five years; teaching as Director of the Computer Studio. He studied painting and theater at the National School of Fine Arts in the Dominican Republic, advertising and graphic design at UNAPEC and Parsons. He began his career in marketing and advertising, working for more than a decade as creative director for Leo Burnett and later A + E, a company founded by him in 2001 and for which he was General Manager. During his years in advertising, Waldo created numerous campaigns for local and international clients such as Phillips Morris, P & G, Miller Brewery, Tabacalera Fuente and Dominican National Brewery. He focused on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and brand development. As General Manager of A + E, he was affiliated with McCann Erickson Dominicana and AOR a division of Young & Rubicam.
Waldo worked very close with fashion designer Miguel Adrover as fashion show concept designer, production director, lighting design supervisor, music director, and show director.
Waldo is considered an avid community worker interested in emerging socially responsible business and cultural enterprises. He is interested in community development through cultural identity, local history, and its international promotion. Waldo has worked with USAID and the Dominican Ministry of Environment in the certification of destinations in the DR. He cooperated closely with the Dominican Ministry of Culture and National Dominican Heritage Office in the certification of tour guides. In 2010 he worked as Communications Director for The Dominican Commissioner of Culture in the United States and The Cooper Union Public Programs, Outreach Program, Summer Art Intensive as well as being a founder of the now famous Typographics Festival in New York.
Waldo Tejada has been able to balance his entrepreneurial spirit with his artistic talent by creating four companies in the last two decade, directing fashions shows and participated in numerous plays and exhibitions, developing socially responsible brands.
