Get To Know Highbridge
Posted on March 22, 2019

Highbridge, home of the New York Yankees, is also well known for its bridge located at a top peak of the Bronx, connecting to Washington Heights. The bridge was built in 1848 and was closed for several years due to its many years of erosion but is now open again for the public. It’s a great way to stay active whether you want to cross to the city, simply take a walk with your dog, or go for a bike ride. I was born and raised in Highbridge and to this day, I’m glad to call it home.

Mullaly Park located at 1055 Jerome Avenue includes a playground for kids, two baseball fields, two full basketball courts, and a soccer field. There is also a community pool for the neighborhood to enjoy in the summer. For recreation, you have Yankee Stadium located on River Avenue and 161st Street, you can’t miss a great game of baseball!

As a lot of people may know, the Bronx is the home of Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop was created in the early 1970s. A few Hip-Hop artists from Highbridge include Cardi B and A Boogie. However, Hip-Hop is not the only music genre you will hear in this neighborhood. There’s a variety of genres such as Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata.
