Something I revolve my whole business around is people. For my acting career, I am an observer of people, situations, and the nature of things and in my real estate business in Uptown NYC it’s no different. If there is one thing I am proud to say I am excellent at, it is over-delivering for my clients. I stand by them and do everything in my power to help them out. I’m sitting here in my Inwood apartment on this brisk September evening reflecting on how grateful I am for the great things going on in my life because at one time things were not what they are now.

At one time not too long ago I was struggling to find a place to live in NYC and sleeping on the floor of a Bronx apartment room (because I couldn’t afford a bed) and having to literally try to find change to be able to buy bread and butter or peanut butter and jelly. For some of you, you may have been blessed enough to not come from a place like that, and for others you have; and even still for others it may be an even worse place and you are still holding on and dreaming of what can be. Maybe one of those dreams is in starting out and renting a place or buying your own piece of NYC real estate. Want to walk by one of those Harlem apartments, Washington Heights apartments, or even Inwood apartments with a for sale sign and know you can close on it? It’s possible with some dreaming, planning, and acting.

I want to dedicate this blog to you dreamers out there regardless of your situation, well off, struggling to make it by, or those who literally only have their dream and the possibility of it happening that is keeping you going. I hope to help you hold onto that dream and also act on it and like the Uptown Nike’s on your feet walking the NYC landscape to Just Do It!

Uptown NYC Businesses and Areas to Check Out:

Here are my top 3 ways/reasons (in no particular order) to smile and live your best life while you are uptown, from Inwood to Washington Heights, and Harlem.

- Goodwill (Washington Heights) 512 W 181st ………. If you are in a good place and feeling charitable you can donate some of the things you think are trash that will spell out someone else’s treasure and smile and feel good in the process, you’re living your best life. If you are struggling mine out the opportunity and take the time to make an extra 10K to 50K (and beyond) depending on your level of drive, by buying some things from the Goodwill and then selling for a profit on Ebay, Etsy or Amazon. Don’t want to or unable to pay shipping costs? Use apps like Letgo. If you are committed enough you just may have saved up enough to pay your down payment or closing costs. Smile and live your best life.

- Dyckman & Ft. Tryon Park (Inwood) …………. In a good place or not, it is good to take a moment to pause for a second to forget your challenges and take in the view from the top of Fort Tyron Park. The air is clean, sights pristine and the water gleans. Breathe in, breathe out, and then smile and live your best life you’ve just taken a moment for yourself in the hustle and bustle of the city. Not too far from there is Dyckman which is a personal fav of mine. Want to call some friends over and have a friendly competition of who’s the better pool player? Bring them to the billiard spot near Dyckman and 207th. Hungry? Make your pick from all of the eateries around. Smile and live your best life.

- Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (515 Malcolm X) ……….. Whether you are struggling or in a good place, this mecca of info and culture has free programming, classes, and readings year round! Meet some cool people, learn about some cool people, or enjoy some free events with other smiling people! Smile and live your best life.

I hope to see you uptown smiling and living your best life! If you see me make sure to say hi and if you’d like a little bonus check this video of mine out: “This is NYC (This is America)
